Professors and researchers in Babol Noshirvani University of Technology set up a hydrodynamics and propulsion laboratory in 2011, with full respect for the countless values of the sea and marine technology industries and with special attention to the conditions of the Caspian Sea that is located near the university.

Regarding the past years activities of researchers and graduate and undergraduate students, includes national and regional projects, publishing and presenting scientific and applied papers in conferences, congresses and symposiums and also graduating undergraduate and postgraduate student, the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology agreed to establish a research group, entitle the Sea-based Energy Research Group.
